Border conflict causes school & boarding house closure and village evacuation
I was informed by our in-country project director Pastor Abe late yesterday that the situation on the Cambodian/Thai border has worsened and consequently a government directive has forced us to reluctantly close our primary school and high school boarding house.
The government is also enforcing the evacuation of thousands of villagers from the region as the threat of more bloodshed looms, throwing families into turmoil.
Thankfully, there has been some support from authorities to expedite the evacuation, but whether it continues, remains to be seen.
As a result of this, we have suspended plans to provide emergency food aid to hundreds of Oddar Meanchey families but will continue to monitor the situation closely and will help when and where we can.
I'll keep you posted and thanks for your support and prayers.
