Study program and food delivered to evacuation camp
I'm so proud of our in-country team's response to the massive refugee crisis that has resulted from the border skirmish with Thailand that has gone on for more than six months now. As previously reported, it has caused the largest displacement of Cambodian residents since the infamous days of the deadly Khmer Rouge in the 1970s.
In their latest efforts, under the expert guidance of our dedicated director Pastor Abe (who is still sporting four broken ribs and a sore arm, leg and head), our team converged on one of the evacuation camps near Siem Reap to deliver some much needed food aid and just as importantly a modified teaching program to hundreds of children.
The conditions in these camps are pretty horrendous with families sleeping on the ground under makeshift shelters with only very basic provision of food and sanitary facilities and as you can imagine the kids have very little to keep them occupied. So when Abe and a contingent of our teaching team from Oddar Meanchey turned up for the day recently, they were very well received.
Many of our regular school students were among the families along with children from other far flung villages and it turned out to be a great day for both the children and their parents. I'm really proud of our amazing team on the ground in Cambodia and our equally big-hearted donors back in Australia and elsewhere in the world who underpin their work.
We would love for you to consider partnering with us in an array of great projects across two of Cambodia's poorest provinces by making a tax deductible donation today (or any day). You can contribute directly into our Australian working account ‘Supporting Cambodia’ BSB: 015-600 Account: 1967 91878 (Please include your name and email address in the transaction for a tax receipt) or with a credit card on our donation page.
All the best,
Rob
